Hannah's Last Day

Well, this is my baby girl's last day as a preschooler. She has a program later this afternoon and then she's done. She seems to think that she starts kindergarten next week. I keep telling her that she doesn't go until after the summer's over. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the constant, "do I go to kindergarten today?" questions.

When I dropped her off, she wanted me to go in with her so that I could see her give her teacher the frame Hannah made for her. It's a 5x7 frame that Hannah painted and then decorated and we wrote I love you Mrs. M., Hannah 2008 on it. We also put in a photo of Mrs. M and Hannah at the pumpkin farm last fall. When Mrs. M opened it, she started crying, so I started crying and have had a hard time stopping. I'm sure I'll cry all the way through the program, too.

Anyway, here's Hannah on her very last day of preschool. I just love this picture of her.

Here's Hannah last September on her first day of school. What a difference a school year makes!

Pumpkin Patch and Tae Kwon Do Photos

Before I get to the pictures, a funny conversation from tonight.

I'm sitting in the viewing area when Paige (our babysitter) runs in with paper towels in hand (the kids were cleaning the mirrors and windows to look good in the pictures) and says:

Did you say something to him?
Me: What?
P: Because he said something to me about cleaning.
Me: Paige, what in the world are you talking about?
P: Then he must have overheard my dad and Mike talking about me over cleaning your house.
Me: Who is the "he" you are referring to?
P: Master Johnson!
Me: What happened?
P: He told me to clean the mirror and I told him that I hated to clean and he said, 'that's not what Mike and Barb say.'

And now...the pictures, as promised.

Hannah's preschool class...is there anything cuter than a bunch of 4 year olds at the pumpkin patch?

Dude This Sucks

I was reading a local parent magazine when I came across an ad for our local JCC (Jewish Community Center) Child Development Center. We've been wanting to get Hannah into a Jewish preschool if we can and I thought that this might be perfect. They're NAEYC accredited and close. I figured that I'd probably forget to call today, so I decided to leave a message last night. I get a call today and talk for a while with the lady.

She describes the program to me...5 days a week (I really wanted 3) and you cannot do less. The program runs from 9am to 1pm, unless I need full time care (which I don't) and then they run from 7am to 6pm. They do all of the requisite reading, writing, etc as well as Shabbat services on Friday and I think she said a Havdalah (is that right?) service on Monday. And they still have spots open for Hannah's age.

Okay, so what I really want to know is how much does it cost? Are you ready? $490 PER MONTH!!!! Oh, and you have to be a member of the JCC at a cost of $95 PER MONTH. SERIOUSLY?!? Seriously. $585 a month to send Hannah to preschool. That's $5265 for the nine month school year. Umm...I think I need to check out some other schools.
