I'd had all these plans for today but my friend, Teresa introduced me to My Town on Facebook and all those plans went out the window. Stupid Facebook games.

My big win, however, was that I finally got the kids' bathtub unclogged. It's so nice to see water finally swirl down the drain and actually disappear. Yay me. I think Wednesday is toilet day. I need to replace the innards of the toilet in the master bath. It's just worn out and just runs and runs. I finally had to turn the water to it off. It's just laziness that I haven't fixed it before now. If I could just figure out how to get the cover off the light in our bedroom, I could actually have real light in there. *sigh*

We started plotting out our summer and plugging in definite dates. Daniel's Webelos camp is in July and Jacob has Boy Scout camp for 10 days in June. He's so excited...I'm getting seriously upset. It makes me sad. He becomes an official Boy Scout later this month. Where has the time gone?

I ordered a few plants from Spring Hill Nursery the other night. Of course, they won't be delivered until it's time to plant them but I'm excited. I ordered a coneflower grab-bag for the back garden. I'm really excited for that garden. This is the 4th summer for that garden and things have spread out so nicely. The black-eyed susans are the best part of the whole thing. They cover the whole middle. I've never been able to get daisies to grow so they died off a few years ago. The coneflowers have done well and they do well with very little watering. I can't wait to see how my roses do this year. I always get compliments on them. I just hope my Russian sages come back. I accidentally hit them with some Roundup last year and they all but died.

I'm also excited for the strawberry plants I ordered. I can't seem to grow a vegetable to save my life so I thought I'd try some fruit. My tomato planters from last year will grow petunias or something this year. Why can't I grow veggies?!?

We finally got the date for Daniel's second opinion...in July. We're on the list to get in earlier, so hopefully we will.

Two more days until Spring Break. :)

Wednesday Thoughts

It's hard to believe it's Wednesday already. I'm not sure where the time is going but it seriously needs to slow down just a little.

It's been so nice here for the past several days. Highs in the 60's, sunshine...ahhhh. It's been just wonderful. Especially since it's February. On Monday, we had some Severe Thunderstorm Warnings pop up in the morning and I got so excited. Don't get me wrong, I don't want tornadoes or anything, just a good thunderstorm. I waited and waited...the storm blew through and all we got was some wind. I was so mad. Last night, we had a nice thunderstorm come in, so that made it better. It's been raining for about 12 hours now and that's good because we really needed it. Sump pump is working, so I'll enjoy a rainy day until it starts snowing, which it looks like it may do at any time. It's gotten so cold...of course, that's normal for February but I already miss the 60 degrees we've been having. (As I've been typing, sleet has begun hitting the window. Ugh)

I had a MOPS meeting yesterday and it was so fun. I thought of my crafty sisters because we made a bath scrub. Epsom salt, olive oil and some essential oil. I can't believe how well it works! I'm going to have to make some more of this stuff on my own.

Again, I'm going to rave about the wonders of Facebook. Yeah, it can be annoying at times but through it, I've been able to reconnect with so many people. Grade school friends, high school friends, college friends and, most recently, a dear friend that we'd lost touch with years ago. Yes, Tommy, I'm talking about you! I know you read my blog. :) That's okay 'cause I've been reading yours, too. LOL!!!

I've discovered that I've become even more of a coffee snob. I'm completely addicted to that Zao Coffee that some of you got for the holidays. Mmmm. Cheri (the owner's wife) goes to my MOPS group. Occasionally, she brings a 12 oz pack of coffee as a door prize. I didn't win this week, but there were a lot of us ready to fight over it. Again, there's free shipping (because he actually brings it to your house) to anyone in Johnson County but they'll ship the coffee anywhere. And, it's shipped the same day it's roasted. So Sorry...

I'm sorry that I've neglected the blog a bit. We've actually been enjoying some free time now that the boys are out of school and I've been going a little nuts on Facebook. My goodness is that thing addictive. It's fun, though, because I'm talking to people from high school and college that I haven't seen in years. If you don't have a Facebook page, I highly recommend getting one. Then let me know so that I can be your friend! LOL! (How sad is that?)

Anyway, the boys had their last day yesterday. We ended up staying outside until 10pm, mostly because I was chatting with a neighbor, Katie. We were discussing parenting books and our children. She recommended Love and Logic ("I haven't yelled at my kids since Sunday!" she told me) so I've been on the lookout for it. Has anyone else read it? If so, what did you think? I've read so many other books on parenting that haven't worked that I'm a little jaded.

Mikayla came over this morning to invite the kids to her garage sale. They all ran out of the house to take a look at her goods. Daniel came back begging for money for a Sonic the Hedgehog toy. I told him that if he wanted the toy, he'd have to spend his money. He runs upstairs, empties his bank and heads outside. About 2 minutes later, I see Sonic running through my backyard. Seriously? Yep...this Sonic is every bit as big as Hannah. We've taken to calling it Humongous Sonic. Daniel loves it, though.

Anyway, I guess that's it for now. I'm heading back over to my Facebook page now! LOL! (I blame Angi for all of this!!! I was fine until she asked me to be her friend!)
