Bring On The Storms!

I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm. I love daytime thunderstorms. When Jacob got up he told me that he'd been up for a while, just listening to it storm. He's being taught right! LOL! It stormed and stormed until about 1:30. Lots of thunder and lightning and a ton of rain. It's cleared up a bit...enough for the kids to go outside and play.

I got the temporary fence up, for the most part, around the pool yesterday. I thought it would take more fencing than it did so I have a whole roll that I need to take back. I had called one of the code guys with a question last Friday and he called me back this morning. I told him that we'd almost gotten the temporary fence done and he told me that that was great and that that he would stop bothering me now. Yay! I have neighbors that are really mad that someone called the city on us. One neighbor, Aimee, really hates it because the people behind her are calling on them about once a week because of their dog. Oh well, Jacob2 hasn't been in the pool since the weekend.

I was changing the filter on the pool and putting in chlorine last night when I saw Guillermo running across the backyard. He was almost at my feet when I saw he had something dangling from his mouth. I took about 5 steps back and then looked when I saw that he'd dropped it. Of course it was a baby bunny. All cute and fuzzy. He batted it a couple of times and then picked it up again and brought it closer to me again. The look on his face was like "look what I got mom!" I told him to put the poor bunny out of its misery and to put the body in a place where the kids wouldn't find it (and I actually told him that out loud!) and went back in. So far, I haven't found the bunny and hopefully I won't.

It's a Monday

It's been a long and busy week here.

Friday morning, I got up and came downstairs to find that the kids were already up. That's always nice. Jacob tells me that he thinks there's something wrong with Daisy, so I go over to her cage. I see that she's got some goo coming out of her eye and she just looks sad. I pick her up to check her out and she just looks at me. She inhales deeply and dies. WHAT????? We think that she got bunny bloat or an intestinal blockage but this is really starting to piss me off. Bumper lived for years. And why do they have to die in my arms??? The boys were okay with it. Hannah cried for about 5 minutes and then began asking when we were getting another one. This will be the last bunny for a while.

I was pretty sad about it (not nearly as sad as with Ruby but that seemed to drag on forever and I think I was much more attached to Ruby) and Mike said he was happy that I had plans to go out with Val that morning so it would keep my mind off of it. So, Val and I go get our pedicures and as soon as I opened the door to the house, I heard the phone ringing. It was the school nurse telling me that Hannah'd had an asthma attack and that she gave her some of her inhaler but she felt Hannah really needed her nebulizer. So, I head off to school to pick up Hannah. I know that a good part of that was that Hannah had been without her Singulair for a couple of days because I couldn't get the pediatrician and Walgreen's to talk to each other. Each wanted me to have the other fax them something. Ugh. Both said they would but neither did. After picking up Hannah, I called the pediatrician and told them that they had to do something because Hannah's asthma was beginning to act up and she needed that medicine. The nurse told me that she would take care of it. I was thrilled when Walgreen's called and said that her refill was ready.

Saturday, I woke up feeling awful. It lasted all of Saturday and most of Sunday. I'm feeling better now but I still have a cough. I'm tired of getting this same cold over and over again.

Saturday afternoon, I began getting e-mails from every old Minee Subee co-worker in my address book. Apparently, one of the teacher's aides at the school in Lincolnshire got frustrated with a 16 month old and slammed him to the ground. With enough force that it was like he had fallen off a 2 story building. The baby died and she's been charged with 2 counts of first-degree murder. It's incredibly tragic. I just keep thinking that Jacob was in that room once-upon-a-time. So sad.

Today, the kids are all sick. Thank goodness for MLK day because I'm sure I would have kept them all home. In fact, Daniel's currently sleeping on the couch. I hope Hannah's okay for her Daisy's meeting this afternoon!

Anyway, that's about it from here for now. Sorry if it felt that I've dropped off of the face of the earth.

Another Random Post

Hannah pulled out her dress-up box last night and has been making herself a princess ever since. I swear this is the most she's played with these clothes since she got it at Christmas. She's having a lot of fun with it.

I got one more area in the backyard done yesterday. This pretty much just leaves the big back rectangle to tackle. That's going to take some time. I'm a little concerned for any plants I put in because of the rabbits outside. Babs, Buster and Topper. Hannah got all excited this morning because she saw Babs and Buster in the neighbor's backyard. I went to look with her and quickly realized that Hannah was getting a pretty graphic sex ed lesson. Just what I needed to see at 9AM. The whole thing was broken up by Topper, who chased Babs and Buster all around the backyard. I suppose that it is indeed Spring.

The boys have early release again today. Why? I don't get why they have so many early release days. Seriously. It's so annoying.

I got a call yesterday afternoon from a girl in my MOPS group. She wanted to know if she could drop by a lasagna for us for dinner. I immediately thought about the pot roast I had in the crock pot and thought that I could just freeze the lasagna for another time. I was outside talking with my neighbor, Beth, when she dropped by. Beth immediately started laughing because this lady just handed me a bag with a frozen Stoffer's lasagna in it. Beth says, "she could have at least heated it up!" We're laughing about it when Amy ATS comes up to talk to me about Daniel (like her kids are complete angels, but that's another story) and tells me that she buys those lasagnas all of the time and they are really tasty. Beth (who actually seemed annoyed that someone would just hand me a frozen lasagna) takes another look in the bag proclaims that it's a regifted food item. I say "what?" She says that someone has written the word "congratulations" on the box in a big black sharpie. LOL! They most certainly did! Oh well. She didn't have to bring me anything at all.
