Audiologist Results...Updated

The test results from Hannah's last screen were confirmed this morning. The good news is that her nerves are in great shape. This means that, under the right circumstances, she can hear very well. The bad news is that both ears are so filled with fluid that it's not letting her eardrums vibrate the way they should. Both ears are really bad, but her left is the worst of the two. There were almost no vibrations at all in her left ear. Slight in her right. The audiologist told me that this amount of fluid could absolutely cause speech problems since, to her, it sounds like she's hearing people under water.

I called our pediatrician to schedule an appointment to discuss the results and they had availability this afternoon! More updates to follow.

UPDATE:

We saw the pediatrician who told me that Hannah does have an ear infection and way too much cloudy fluid in her ear. They've started her on another course of antibiotics and we go back in three weeks to see if it's cleared up at all. She said that they don't want to rush straight to tubes because it's so invasive.

So, when we go back in, they'll check the fluid levels in her ears and do a re-check of her hearing (they have the equipment in the office). For now, we're in a holding pattern to see if the antibiotics work. If they don't, well, I guess we'll see.

Wow, Barb, things are falling into place quickly. So far it sounds like great news. I've prayed for her and will continue.

Thanks, Deb. She's also got the MOPS Prayer Team praying for her, too. It's really an amazing thing to watch the prayers being answered so quickly!

I know you and sue talked a bit about it...any chance for herbal help from her?

I thought about that course of action, too. I haven't been able to slow down enough to really talk to her about it since I've only been able to talk with Sue in the car between appointments (I know...get off the phone and drive, Barb! LOL!)

That's actually good news, Barb. Now you can do whatever it takes to get her better. Go Hannah!
