Hannah's been sick for a little while now. Yesterday, she wouldn't get off of the couch. I decided to take her to the doctor this morning. Hannah got her formal asthma diagnosis. *sigh* They were really concerned about her breathing and decided to give her a nebulizer treatment right there. Before they did, they measured her blood oxygen level...it was in the mid 80's. Apparently, they like it to be over 96%. After the treatment, she was at 91%. Not good enough. They gave her a dose of oral Prednisone and another breathing treatment. I was told that if it didn't come up to 96% after the second one, they'd have to admit her to the hospital.
Half way through the second treatment, Hannah starts freaking out. Screaming and crying. I felt so badly for her. After the treatment was over, they took her oxygen levels again and it was 96%. Enough for her to get to go home. But she has to come back in at 9:30 tomorrow to make sure she's still doing okay.
We were sent home with prescriptions for a nebulizer, albuterol, prednisone and Singulair. She'll have to be on the Singluair until next summer. She also has to come in next month for a flu shot.
It just keeps getting better and better...

I'm sorry, Barb. Having gone through this, I would strongly suggest that you get a little limited allergy testing. They don't like to do the complete allergy testing on little kids, but I would see if she might be allergic to your animals.
I forgot to say that I'm really glad she got better in the office. Asthma is scary. Hugs to you both.
