It's Been A While Since We've Had To Deal With This...

HAIL!!! THUNDERSTORMS!!! TORNADO WARNINGS!!! (Okay, we haven't had the tornado warning...yet)

Here's pictures of the first round of pea sized hail we had on our deck around 6:15pm Central time.

Round 2...again, pea sized hail around 8:25pm Central time. This time on the front walk.

Jacob holding one of the pieces of hail.

And we're not quite done yet. We've had Round 3 of hail but I didn't get pictures. It's been a while since I've seen hail that completely covers the street. Crazy! Boy, I hope Sue stopped ahead of this!

You know, we were in the 70's yesterday. Today, 30's. It was snowing when I was getting the kids ready for school. It's stopped now.

Scary, Barb. It's nice to know you have a safe room.

Luckily, we didn't have to use it! All of the super cells went just south and east of us. We just had lots of wind, rain and hail. I think they said we got almost 5 inches of rain between 6pm last night and 1am this morning out here (we're right by one of their monitoring stations). Of course, the airport got less than an inch, so that's what goes on the record books. LOL!

Any storm that can produce hail that big is definately a big deal. Think of the force it takes to keep pushing it back up into the colder air over and over to make it that big. Anything bigger than pea sized is basement worthy in my opinion. The storm that demolished the Chinese restaurant in town produced hail a little bigger than that. The final analysis was that it was not a tornado but straight line winds. Nasty.
