I'm So Wild and Crazy!

I just spent a wild Saturday night cleaning out closets. Whoo hoo! Look at me...I'm changing out summer stuff for winter stuff! Someone stop me before I organize again! LOL!

Seriously, I decided that the kids are in jeans and long sleeves 90% of the time now, I'd change out the summer clothes in their closets for the winter clothes. I had the perfect opportunity to do it since the boys are at a sleepover and Hannah's sleeping in my bed. All of the short sleeves/shorts are still easily accessable just in case it decides to get warm again but the warmer stuff is right there. I even pulled the stuff that Jacob's outgrown and put it in Daniel's closet and pulled all of the stuff Daniel's outgrown out for Sara/Goodwill. Hannah's closet looks good too...most of her stuff, she can still wear. Yay!

I'm going to pull out my salad from dinner tonight and watch some Grey's. If it gets any crazier in here, someone may have to call the police!

Chef Jacob

I don't know why I thought of doing it tonight but I felt that Jacob was old enough to learn to use the stove. I decided to let him make the hot dogs for dinner tonight. He did it all...I just directed. He got the pan, filled it with water, turned on the stove, added the hot dogs and even took them out of the pan when they were done. I was so proud of him and he was proud of himself!

Jacob adds the hot dogs.

Jacob adjusts the temperature on the burner

1st Quarter Midterms

I didn't realize it was already midterms for Jacob and Daniel. While I don't yet have Jacob's midterm report, I do have Daniel's. Unfortunately, it's only on conduct/work habits. I'm a little upset that he doesn't have any sort of academic midterm report. Oh well. I have a conference with her next week. If she'll ever get back to me on when it is. Anyway, in my mind, some of the report contradicts other parts. Another reason I need a conference. Shouldn't she have told me before now if he's not paying attention or participating in activities? And how can you follow directions if you're not paying attention? I'm not entirely impressed with his teacher. Here's Daniel's first midterm report:

+ Demonstrates Skill
- Does Not Demonstrate Skill
S Satisfactory
N Needs Improvement

Work Habits S
Pays Attention -
Follows Directions +
Works Independently +
Completes assigned tasks +
Participates in a variety of activities -

Conduct S
Observes classroom and school rules +
Shows respect for authority +
Cooperates with classmates +
Demonstrates self discipline +

Comments
Daniel seems to be adjusting to school well. He loves looking at books and has a hard time putting one down if he hasn't finished - no matter the activity. :)

Okay...here's Jacob's (I'm pleased with his math score since he bombed a test a few weeks ago):

Reading 96.0 A

Spelling 92.5 B+

Handwriting 85.5 S

Math 86.0 C+

Comments
Jacob is a sweet boy and always wants to do his best. He does get frustrated at times and begins to cry. Let's encourage him to always ask a question if he is unsure and know that I am willing to help him. Continue to work on handwriting skills at home. Thank you for your help at home in math as well. He will benefit from your extra support.

Taking Pause...

Mike said something to me last night and I don't know how I never thought of it before. We had spent some of the evening choosing houses for Mike to look at once he goes back. There are a lot of great houses out there...there was one that I told Mike, "if it looks this good in person, buy it!" Anyway, it made us realize that the move is closer than we had thought.

Back to the comment Mike made. He says, "so, you're moving to Kansas, completely sight unseen." Huh. The only thing I could say back was, "do I really have a choice? If I hate it, can we move back? I moved here sight unseen." He says, "yeah, but we picked out the house together." How could I have not thought of this before? Mike says something about letting me go out and pick out a house. I told him that I didn't want that pressure. He laughed and said, "tell me about it!"

Seriously, I completely trust him to make a good decision about the house. Especially since we both had similar comments about the houses we were looking at online and both completely dismissed one house at about the same time.

I guess this whole thing really is a leap of faith.

Grey's Tonight

This has been the longest week! Hiding from spoilers and resisting the urge to see Episode 2 on Youtube has paid off and I'll get to see GA tonight and be surprised! :) Yay! It's on tonight at 9/8 Central on ABC. Here's the epi description from ABC:

I Am a Tree Episode 302
Cristina meets Burke's parents - and in the most awkward of circumstances - the interns campaign for Izzie's reinstatement to the surgical intern program, Addison takes a break from her hospital duties and a surgical patient lives what may be her last day to the fullest.

God Bless Terri Irwin

I stumbled upon the 20/20 special with Terri Irwin tonight. I don't think I stopped crying the entire hour. What a strong and amazing woman. It crushed me when she told Barbara Walters that she had lost her prince. She then she went on to say that she's Mrs. Steve Irwin and that's a lot to live up to.

My heart breaks for this woman.

Hannah Update

We just got back from Hannah's recheck and all looks to be well. Her oxygen levels were at 98% so I was told that the nebulizer treatments can go to an as needed basis. We need to keep up with the Augmenten and Singulair but we've made it through this crisis. Hooray!

Hannah was upset that she didn't have to go back to the hospital. I think she thought of it as a vacation! LOL!

This Is Killing Me...

In Canada, instead of the Grey's Season 3 premiere, they accidentially ran Episode 2. GGGRRRRRR! Here's the problem: someone posted epi 2 on Youtube (of course they did!). They had to post it in like 5 parts, but it's still there. It's killing me. I keep telling myself that I don't want to watch; that I want to be surprised on Thursday. Then there's the part of me that says I'll just watch the first 7 minutes (the length of the first segment).

SOMEONE STOP ME BEFORE I DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!

WTF????

Where did the right side of my blog go??? Can anyone else see it or is it just me?

Okay...so I found it at the bottom of my blog. What happened? Why is it down there and how do I move it back up?

I'm an idiot...it was the title of the NOOOOOOO post that did it! LOL!

When It Rains, It Pours

You know that I took Hannah to the Doctor and she was treated for asthma. Well, she had a follow-up appointment on Saturday. Hannah and I get into the car Saturday morning and head to the doctor. On the way there, our Realtor calls and says we finally have a showing. Yay!!!! So, I call Mike and tell him about it and he tells me to get home as soon as I can to help clean up. No problem I tell him.

Needless to say, I didn't make it home.

When we got to the doctor's office, they took her oxygen levels and she was at 95%. Not bad but they want to give her a breating treatment before we head home. Fine. They give her a treatment and her levels actually go down. WTF? The doctor's not happy so he decides to give her another treatment. Just as they start, a nurse walks in with an oxygen tank (I'm really freaking out now) and hooks the nebulizer tubing to the oxygen tank. Her levels go up to 98/99%. Yay! As soon as they turn off the oxygen, she goes right back down to 90%. Crap. They're going to give it one more shot and if they still don't come up, it's hospital time. After the third treatment, she was still hovering around 90%. He gives us some paperwork and tells us to head up to the pediatric department at the hospital. They'll be waiting for us.

Sure enough, we walk up to pediatrics and there were two nurses standing in the hallway waiting for us. They show us to our room and get Hannah settled in. They're going to put Hannah on breating treatments every two hours and every other dose will also have some sort of bronchial dialator (or some such thing...my head was swimming at this point) in it.

After a while, the doctor comes back in and tells me that they think she may have a small amount of pneumonia as well so they'll put her on an antibiotic. They're also going to push her treatments to every three hours and see how she does. If she can make it through the night without oxygen and once she can get to the four hour point between treatments, we can go home.

She made it through the night without needing oxygen although she came close to needing it.

So, this morning, they pushed her treatments to every four hours and she did well. The doctor (another one from the practice) comes in this afternoon and asks me if the x-rays were explained to me. I told her that it was my understanding that she had a touch of pneumonia. She said yes and no. What she believes is going on is the little sacs at the bottom of her right lung were not getting enough oxygen and were not blowing up (essentially, they had collapsed). She was going to continue the antibiotic since she believes there's something going on but we are all set to go home. We need to make an appointment to come in on Wednesday but continue doing what they were doing and hopefully we'll be fine.

The nurse comes in with our discharge papers and unhooks Hannah from the machine. She was so excited that she started running around the room. It was so good to make it home.

Hopefully, we won't be having anymore excitement for a while. I'm tired...you'd think they'd provide softer sleeping surfaces for the parents in that hospital!

NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!

I'm so mad I could scream!!!!!

Daniel taped cartoons over last night's Grey's! I'm seriously sad.

Edited: I was just told that it'll be on again tonight! Yay!!!!! I'm no longer mad at Daniel. Well, I am because he shouldn't have been playing with the remote but whatever.

Formal Diagnosis

Hannah's been sick for a little while now. Yesterday, she wouldn't get off of the couch. I decided to take her to the doctor this morning. Hannah got her formal asthma diagnosis. *sigh* They were really concerned about her breathing and decided to give her a nebulizer treatment right there. Before they did, they measured her blood oxygen level...it was in the mid 80's. Apparently, they like it to be over 96%. After the treatment, she was at 91%. Not good enough. They gave her a dose of oral Prednisone and another breathing treatment. I was told that if it didn't come up to 96% after the second one, they'd have to admit her to the hospital.

Half way through the second treatment, Hannah starts freaking out. Screaming and crying. I felt so badly for her. After the treatment was over, they took her oxygen levels again and it was 96%. Enough for her to get to go home. But she has to come back in at 9:30 tomorrow to make sure she's still doing okay.

We were sent home with prescriptions for a nebulizer, albuterol, prednisone and Singulair. She'll have to be on the Singluair until next summer. She also has to come in next month for a flu shot.

It just keeps getting better and better...

Premiere Night!!!!!!

All the waiting is over! What's sad is it's 11:00 and I've already watched Grey's twice. (I figured out how to get the VCR to tape!) Even funnier...Mike came in from Kansas a little less than half way through it actually airing and he stuck around to watch the second time with me! LOL!

Okay, so I'm freaking out a little because Derek finally told Meredith that HE LOVES HER!!!!!! He was so cute. "I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you forever." And then when he told her that when he had a choice to make, he made the wrong one...the little smile...that's why they call him McDreamy! A little pissed because she did nothing but tear up. If she actually picks between Finn and Derek by flipping a coin, I'm going to be pissed.

The flashback scene with Derek and Addison was heartbreaking. I normally don't see Patrick Dempsey as the guy 10+ years ago, but clean shaven, there he was. Throwing Addison's clothes out into the rain and then throwing Addison out into the rain...it was intense. When Addison said "we're Addison and Derek. We don't quit." I'm wondering if that was some sort of foreshadowing as to why he was distant. Hmmm...

Favortie scene was George and Derek raiding everyone's locker for food. Derek says, "I've hit the motherload! Who eats this much food?"
George: "that's Izzy's locker. She ate a lot to keep her energy up."
Derek: "Eats"
George: "What?"
Derek: "Izzy eats. Present tense. You said ate. Izzy didn't die."
The grammar girl in me loved that!

Addison finding the panties wasn't a shocker but her putting them on the bulletin board was crazy!!!! She was so bizarre tonight, although finding someone else's panties in your husbands suit coat will do that to you...

Season 3 is in full swing! Yay!

On a side note, My Name Is Earl was pretty funny tonight too. Joy cracks me up!

The Stupidity of the Human Race

(I just had to steal a Dr. Bailey line...it seems to fit well here)

The air quality guy came out a few weeks ago and found a couple of things in the air in the crawlspace. I've been saying all along that if no one actually lives in the crawl, what's the point of testing the air there? Anyway, we're told to remove the mold (that a couple of inspectors have said is only a possiblility...not exactly visibly present but I was told that structural engineers are not mold experts - whatever). So I get in contact with a mold removal guy. He asks me questions about how it was found, etc. I tell him that it was found through an air sample. He then says, "I have to ask you a few serious questions to see if the test is even valid. Did they test the air inside the living areas of the home?" No. "Why not?" I tell him that I don't know. He then tells me that because a crawl space is not a sealed environment and is exposed to the elements, you cannot get an accurate reading of mold. He says, "of course there's going to be stuff down there. Crawl spaces are typically damp and dark and are breeding grounds for all sorts of things. It doesn't automatically mean that you need to have anything removed. Unless, of course, it's not coming out of your pocket." I loved that last line. He tells me that typically, the amplification (my new word of the week) must be 10 times greater in the living areas than it is outside for removal to be necessary. He then tells me that I should contact the relo company and if they have any questions he'd be happy to take their phone call.

So, I call our lady. I know she's not happy to hear from me...I know she's not really listening to my voice mails since I left her a message with the guy's name and number and then she e-mailed asking for it! Oh well.

I've been questioning this whole air sample thing from the beginning. Especially so since everything I've read about air test samples says that air samples are unreliable and can fluctuate depending on temperature, season, and a variety of other factors. Which is why the removal guy asked about the samples even being valid. I'm curious to see how this resolves itself.

Seriously?

I just had to post this...Hannah can write the "H a" part of her name!!!!!!! I didn't even show her!

I had to share!

Hooray!!!!

The kids were actually asleep at 9pm last night! Yeah! Okay, so I had to stay up there with them until they fell asleep (and I fell asleep on the floor for about 1/2 hour) but it was so nice!!! :) When they got up this morning, they were actually cheerful! I guess 11 hours of sleep will do that to you! I knew they were whiney from lack of sleep. They had been getting about 9 hours. And it's not enough.

It's a shame that I finally found a mamma away from my mamma here...and we're moving. This lady reminds me so much of Maureen - very put together and doesn't take crap from anyone. (Maureen, I'm not sure if you read this but if you do...you were my mamma away from my mamma in Chicago!) She's devil child, Taylor, grandma and she also lives one street over. She's been giving some good advice and we've been talking a lot about relo companies and what not. She's a really nice lady.

I hope Kansas is nice...

Freaking Out A Little

Thank God we still have Oriana.

The first contractor came this morning and seemed to be a really good guy. He basically gave me a lot of advice and info regarding what he could do and was very up front with me.

The second guy came and freaked me out from the moment he stepped out of the truck. He immediately told me that we would have to completely replace the chimney cap (there are cracks that the other guy told me would be no problem). I told him that there was nothing wrong with the cap...that there are some minor cracks. He told me that the whole thing needed to be replaced because it would be "easier." He starts to go into the crawl and had the nerve to ask me for a flashlight. I told him that I didn't have one and he muttered something under his breath. He comes back up and tells me that the whole front porch and front door has to be replaced and begins to tear apart some of the trim around the door. I yelled, "stop doing that!" He looks at me and says, "don't yell at me! It has to be replaced anyway." (the other guy said that we should probably just leave it.) I say, "but you are doing more damage and we are trying to sell the house here." He says, "you don't need to be yelling at me. I don't need to be yelled at!"

At this point, I'm shaking. The only thing I could think of to say was, "thank you for coming. You can go now." And I walked back into the house and shut the door. I immediately went to the garage and let Oriana back in. I look out the front window and he's just standing there. A minute later, he gets into the truck and leaves.

I know that it doesn't sound all that bad but for the first time in this whole thing, I was actually scared. We've had so many people come into the house that have been so nice (or aloof...not that it's a bad thing) that I wasn't prepared when an asshole came in.

The Little Mermaid

Hannah was watching Brother Bear 2 (I love hearing Patrick Dempsey's voice coming out of an animated bear) when we saw a preview for The Little Mermaid coming out on a "special 2 disc edition" on October 3rd. No idea what's going to be on the second disc but I thought Sue might like to know. I love The Little Mermaid. It's my favorite Disney movie.

*Sigh*

The kids were refusing to go to bed last night. I'm way outnumbered and that, somehow, doesn't seem fair. I have to keep telling myself that they respond better when I say nothing to them and just act but it's so hard when it's close to two hours past their bedtime and they are still going. I have to figure something out.

I woke up this morning and it's like every part of my body is congested. I've been treating my "cold" for about a week now before making the realization that it's allergies. So, I'm a little slow. Now, I'm just waiting for the Claritin to kick in.

Daniel's going through this incredibly whiney stage where if something doesn't go his way, he makes this high pitched "uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" noise. It makes every hair on the back of my neck stick up. It started this morning when I accidentally gave him Raisin Bran instead of Honey Comb. I noticed the mistake as soon as I poured the milk but does that matter to him? No. I get the whiney machine. Yet another reason the kids need to go to bed when I tell them to.

Waiting for some contractors to show up to give us estimates. We get to replace some floor joists and the band board under the front door. I heard Mike saying something to one of the contractors yesterday...they were talking about bracing the house so that the floor joists could be replaced. Nice. And after all of that's done, we get to bring in the mold guy. If people would build houses the way that they are supposed to, we wouldn't have this problem.

Mike's going to start house hunting for us out in Kansas soon. I told him a month ago that I wouldn't mind if he went and looked for houses without me. At the time he told me that there was no way that was going to happen. Unfortunately, we can't get the logistics of me coming out there down so it looks like he'll have to do it alone. Oh well. He and I have the same taste in houses so I'm not worried. He's also going to make sure that I get pictures of the house before any offers go down, right honey? LOL! Seriously, I know he'll do a great job finding us a house.

Ask A Ninja

Mike has discovered this thing on YouTube called Ask A Ninja. He's been sending me the ones he thinks are really funny. Tonight, he sent me Do Ninjas Get Colds? in honor of my cold. I really did think that was the best one. Here are the links if anyone is interested...

Do Ninjas Get Colds?
Hiring a Ninja
Do Ninjas Need Love?

I couldn't get Santa Ninja to work for some strange reason. I don't know if it's a problem with YouTube or what and that makes me sad. Oh well.

Enjoy!

House Full of Sick

Hannah's had a head cold for about a week now. Two days ago, I found myself having symptoms, too. Yesterday, the boys started. Ugh. It's just not right. And, I have a sty in my left eye. Hannah's spoiled rotten and fights me on EVERYTHING! I know that a good deal of it's because she's three but she's killing me. She's already been in time out twice this morning. My head's all full (bonus points to Michelle if you can tell me who said that, what the response was and which epi! LOL!)...

We've been dealing with the parade of inspectors and appraisers since Saturday. Yesterday, the scariest of them all, the Structural Engineers, came to look at the crawl. They then proceeded to inspect the rest of the house. The only thing that they would tell me is, "it's not bad." I'm dying to know what that means. Still no word on the house...no one's been interested enough to even take a look yet. It's so depressing. Every morning when I'm cleaning up, I think, "why do I bother?" But it has to be clean just in case someone decides to stop by.

Cindy and Barbra came by for a borders workshop last night. It was more of a social thing for me but they did get some borders done. It was good to talk with adults for a while, even if the kids refused to go to bed.

I must now shower and get going on my day. I have a meeting at 11 that I'm not looking forward to. I also have to take Jacob up for a second urinalysis and take Daniel to baseball. Just once, I'd love to have a day where I didn't have something to do.

GA Spoiler...

Here's a GA spoiler from Ausiello...I'm not sure what to think. Someone had to have lost their job over this. It's a pretty significant spoiler.

Oh, and I think that this will be my last spoiler of the year. I made the realization last night while watching "Yesterday" that I was so shocked when Addison came in because I had no idea that she was coming but not so much when Mark came in. I really would have loved to have found out who Mark was when Derek punched him and Meredith said, "what was that?!?" and Derek looked at her and said, "that was Mark." So, I'm going to try my best to avoid GA spoilers this season.

Another aside, I love that episode...

George: Why is he suturing his own face?
Cristina: To turn me on!

Meredith: McSexy wants an X-Ray and I don't think it's a good idea if I take him
Cristina: McSexy?
Meredith: No?
Izzy: How about McYummy?
Meredith and Cristina: No
Meredith: McSteamy
Cristina: There it is.
George: I think I just choked on some McVomit

Alex and Cristina watching the fight between Mark, Derek and the Chief...
Cristina: Did he just call him a crackwhore?
Alex: He did not
Cristina: Shutup...I'm trying to read lips!

Cristina - after Addison shooed them out of the ER: I don't know what McDreamy or McSteamy see in her.
Alex: 'Cause she's McHot!
George: McYeah she is

And then there's this one from "Much Too Much"

Cristina: What the hell is this?
Burke: It's a key
Cristina: Why?
Burke: Why is it a key? Are we feeling existential this morning?
Cristina: Well, if a key turns in a lock and no one asks for the key, or even wanted the key, does it make a sound?

Question: Let me just start off by saying I am holding ten Smurfs inches away from my garbage disposal. Give me some prattle on Grey's Anatomy or they get tossed in— Lola

Ausiello: For all that is blue and holy, don't do it! Here's your Grey's poop: We're going to meet one of Derek's sisters early in the season and her presence will instantly drive a wedge between recently-reunited lovahs Derek and Meredith. According to my spy, Derek's sib will sneak into his trailer and make herself comfy in his bed — all while her bro is taking a shower. Naturally, a naked Derek steps out of the shower and discovers his sis in the sack at the precise moment Meredith walks in. She assumes he's McCheating on her with the mystery hottie out and flees before Derek has a chance to explain. Oh, the drama!

For Michelle...

I actually have posted the words to How To Save A Life, but if you want 'em again, here they are! LOL! (What's sad is I can actually do it from memory without looking up the words!)

How To Save A Life by The Fray

Step one you say we need to talk
He walks, you say sit down it's just a talk
Smiles politely back at you
You stare politely right on through
Some sort of window to your right
As he goes left and you stay right
Between the lines of fear and blame
And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness and I
Would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known
How to save a life

Let him know that you know best
'Cause after all, you do know best
Try to slip past his defense
Without granting innocence
Lay down a list of what is wrong
The things you've told him all along
And pray to God he hears you
And I pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness and I
Would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known
How to save a life

As he begins to raise his voice
You lower yours and grant him one last choice
Drive until you lose the road
Or break with the ones you've followed
He will do one of two things
He will admit to everything
Or he'll say he's just not the same
And you'll begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness and I
Would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life

Where did I go wrong
I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness and I
Would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known
How to save a life...

Another Song In My Head

Okay, so The Fray's How To Save A Life is out of my head. It has been replaced with Nickelback's (love Nickelback!) Far Away. It gives me goosebumps and I think of Sue and Glenn a lot when I hear it...

Far Away by Nickelback

This time, this place
Misused, mistakes
Too long, too late
Who was I to make you wait
Just one chance
Just one breath
Just in case there's just one left
'Cause you know
You know, you know

That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore

On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all
I'd give for us
Give anything but I won't give up
'Cause you know
You know, you know

That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreaming you'll be with me
and you'll never go
Stop breathing if
I don't see you anymore

So far away
Been far away for far too long
So far away
Been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know

I wanted
I wanted you to stay
'Cause I needed
I need to hear you say
That I love you
I have loved you all along
And I forgive you
For being away for far too long
So keep breathing
'Cause I'm not leaving
Hold on to me and
Never let me go

Here's Your Sign...

Dan, our Realtor, puts the sign up while Daniel and Hannah watch. Yes, Hannah's naked from the waist up.

The sign is up and the house is listed. We can't show it until tomorrow when we get our lockbox but we're off and running...

Michelle!!!!!! Did You See It????!!!!????

Okay, so I'm freaking out here a little. Michelle, please tell me you saw the 4 MINUTE LONG GREY'S VIDEO!!! OMG!!! So much to analyze! Did you see the headlights and the spider webbing on the windshield? At first, I thought it was just part of the Fray video...then I realized IT'S MER'S JEEP!!!! HER LITTLE BLUE JEEP IN THE WOODS!!!! Does she get into an accident? And how about George and Derek running into Mer's house and George running into Callie's arms while Derek's looking frantic? Could that be related to it? The whole Izzy/Mer thing looked like it could be a dream - it had that whitish background like when she was imagining Derek in the bomb epi. Maybe she blacks out from the accident and starts flashing back. How about Addie opening the hotel room door and Derek on the other side? Possible that Mark's in there with her? Hmmm...

The whole coin flip thing has me confused. I hope she doesn't pick between Derek and Finn this way! Bailey sitting all alone and looking upset has me scared. Could this have something to do with the possible accident?

What's going on with Alex? Who's he shoving/punching? Maybe his dad? And what's up with the newborn?

I literally screamed when they showed Mer/Der kissing. And then, I almost threw up when she was kissing Finn. Planboy needs to leave now! Thank goodness Mike wasn't here to roll his eyes at me.

I need to stop for now since I may begin siezing at any moment. I need to find out if someone's posted it to YouTube.

So Annoying

Jacob had his first fall ball baseball game last night. He did really well. At one point, he was told to play catcher. The look on his face was priceless. I'm sure he was thinking, "crap...how did I get stuck with this?" They put all of the garb on him and he was too precious in that mask. He did awesome. He also got a hit. He was excited about that. After the game, I asked him if he liked playing catcher and he said, "no. I hated it. I got hit in the chin!" It's too bad. I really think he'd be good there.

Tonight was Daniel's first fall ball game. This was really the first meeting of all of us since we had all of the rain. Daniel did much better. He played first and actualy paid attention to what was going on. He also had a couple of good hits and actually ran to the bases. At the point where he was running from third to home, he ran past home and started running back to first. He didn't understand that he needed to go back to the dugout. It was really funny.

I'm sitting, watching the game when these two moms sit down next to me and talk through the whole game. They have first graders who don't go to the same school as Jacob but are in the same school district. They're going on and on about how it sucks that they don't have teachers aides anymore and going on, saying terrible things about the school. They start talking about the Swish program (they give the kids an ACT rinse once a week if you sign up for it) and how obnoxious it is, especially since they are only doing it in October. They had a lot of the facts wrong, so I chimed in and told them how the program actually worked (Jacob did it last year - it's actualy year round and the kids look forward to it). They look at me like I have three heads. One of them looked at me and said, "we have flouridated water. What's the point?" The other one says, "well, our paper said it's only for October NOT for the whole year." Whatever. They then start commenting on how t-ball should be run. How it's so stupid that they let all of the kids hit and don't call outs. Shouldn't they all (even the outfielders) be wearing helmets!?! I was so thankful when Hannah came up and told me that she had to use the bathroom. It's going to be a long season.

So Freaking Tired

Our realtor came by on Saturday to get going on listing the house. I asked him to go through and tell us what else needs to be done. Lots of little things: change out burnt light bulbs, a good vacuuming, etc. There were three biggies on the list: power wash the deck, paint the laundry room and neutralize the family room by repainting that too. Ugh. Mike went over to Wayne and Cheryl's and borrowed their pressure washer and got to work on the deck before he left on Monday.

Unfortunately, we were only able to get half of it done before he headed back. Not that power washing the deck is hard, it's just very tedious. I also thought that I would surprise Mike by going forward with painting the two rooms (that was blown this afternoon, which is why I'm blogging about it). I got the laundry room done on Monday night and the Family room done yesterday. I even patched the torn dry wall behind the chair where the bunny nibbled on it. I also finished the power washing yesterday as well (did a little touch up this morning-also power washed the barstools). I'm sore, tired and I stink like wet from my jeans getting soaked (I'm too lazy to change). I also made the realization that in the two years we've lived here, I've painted the:

dining room
kitchen
laundry room
family room (twice)
front entry
stairwell
upstairs hallway
4 bedrooms

I really wish Jacob didn't have baseball tonight.

Bizarre fact of the day: If humans had tongues like chameleons, we would be able to shoot them out 11 feet. In addition, we would also be able to pick up the equivalent of a 19 pound sack of potatoes...WITH OUR TONGUES!!!!

Seriously?

Okay. I just read that Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, was killed by a stingray. I'm having a really hard time believing it even though I've now read it on two different news sites. Someone tell me it's not true.

Red Light, Green Light (and my 200th post!)

Wow, I got to 200 a lot faster than I got to 100!

One of the best parts of being a Mom, for me, is teaching the kids games and other things I used to play as a kid. A couple of weeks ago, I taught the kids to play jacks and today, I taught them to play Red Light Green Light in the family room. They were having a blast and actually getting along on this second day of being stuck inside! I should look into getting a Chinese Jumprope. I know that by Jacob's age, I was an expert!

This Is A First (11:30 Update)

I've seen schools closed for a lot of things...snow (in Illinois, not very often) and fog (all the time in Iowa) but the kids actually had a Hurricane Day. I don't mean to laugh. I often think of what Harry Whitacre would say about this school district. (For those that don't know, Harry Whitacre was the superintendant of the Peoria Public School District when I was growing up. That man closed school for NOTHING!)

I was really looking forward to going to my board meeting with just one with me! :(

2:30 Update: It's been raining steadily throughout the day. Nothing I'd even call heavy. There's also a small breeze but no big gusts. Basically, the kids got a day off for rain. This sucks.

11:30 Update: The rain continues. According to Weather Bug down at Senseny Road School, we've only gotten 2 inches of rain but according to the bucket on the deck, we've gotten a lot more than that. It's currently 53 degrees outside (we only got to 64 today) and winds are around 8 mph, gusting to 20 mph. Our biggest gust has been 27 mph. It should be ending soon, though.
